Aivana, Inc. (“Aivana,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies in connection with Aivana AI Studio, the Aivana Multi-Model Intelligence service and API (“Aivana MMI” or the “MMI API”), our developer portal, Playground, documentation, account and billing experiences, and other web-based services that reference this Cookie Policy (collectively, the “Services”).
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are, why we use them, the choices available to you, and how they relate to our collection and use of Personal Data (as defined in our Privacy Policy).
This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy at aivana.ai/privacypolicy and our Terms of Service at aivana.ai/serviceterms.
The MMI API itself is generally accessed using an API key through server-to-server requests and does not require browser cookies. This Cookie Policy primarily applies when you interact with Aivana through a browser or other web-based interface.
1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your browser or device. They can allow a website to recognize a browser, maintain a session, remember preferences, support security, understand how a service is used, or perform other functions.
Cookies may be:
- First-party cookies, which are set by Aivana or an Aivana-controlled domain.
- Third-party cookies, which are set by another provider whose services are used in connection with the Services.
- Session cookies, which generally expire when you close your browser or after a short period.
- Persistent cookies, which remain on your device for a defined period unless you delete them sooner.
We may also use technologies that perform functions similar to cookies, such as local storage, session storage, pixels, software development kits, device identifiers, or similar technologies.
For simplicity, we refer to all of these technologies as “cookies” in this Cookie Policy unless otherwise stated.
2. Categories of Cookies We Use
Depending on the Service, feature, region, and your privacy choices, Aivana may use the following categories of cookies.
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
Strictly Necessary Cookies are required for the Services to function securely and correctly.
They may be used to:
- Authenticate users.
- Maintain signed-in sessions.
- Refresh authentication sessions.
- Protect against fraud or unauthorized access.
- Protect authentication flows against cross-site request forgery and similar security threats.
- Maintain security settings.
- Process account requests.
- Store privacy or cookie choices.
- Support core website and application functionality.
Because these cookies are necessary to provide Services you request or to protect the Services, they generally cannot be disabled through our cookie-preference controls.
You may configure your browser to block them, but doing so may cause parts of the Services to stop functioning.
2.2 Functional Cookies
Functional cookies may allow the Services to remember choices or settings that improve your experience.
For example, these technologies may remember:
- Interface preferences.
- Display settings.
- Previously selected options.
- Developer-tool preferences.
- Other non-essential settings.
Where required by applicable law, we will obtain consent before using non-essential functional cookies.
2.3 Analytics and Performance Cookies
Analytics and performance cookies may help us understand how visitors use the Services.
They may be used to measure:
- Page visits.
- Traffic sources.
- Feature usage.
- Navigation patterns.
- Application performance.
- Errors.
- Engagement.
- Conversion or onboarding activity.
We may use information from these technologies to analyze and improve the Services.
Analytics and performance cookies are not required for basic operation of the Services. Where required by applicable law, we will obtain consent before activating them.
2.4 Marketing and Advertising Cookies
Aivana may use marketing or advertising technologies to measure campaigns, understand the effectiveness of our marketing, or promote Aivana on third-party websites or platforms.
These technologies may allow Aivana or its advertising partners to recognize a browser or device and associate activity across websites or services.
Aivana does not use Customer Content submitted through the MMI API for advertising purposes.
Marketing and advertising cookies are not necessary to provide the Services and will be subject to applicable consent or opt-out requirements.
3. Cookies and Storage We Currently Use
The specific cookies and storage items used by the Services may change as our technology evolves. The tables below list what Aivana AI Studio uses on the Effective Date of this Cookie Policy. Some items may not be present for every user or authentication method.
3.1 Authentication and Security Cookies
Aivana AI Studio uses the following first-party cookies for developer authentication, session management, and security.
| Cookie | Purpose | Category | Typical Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| aivana_dev_access_token | Maintains an authenticated AI Studio developer session | Strictly Necessary | Until the sign-in credential expires, typically about 1 hour |
| aivana_dev_refresh_token | Allows an authenticated session to be securely renewed without requiring a new sign-in each time | Strictly Necessary | Up to 30 days |
| aivana_dev_user_id | Associates the browser session with the applicable developer account for session management. It contains the email address of that account. | Strictly Necessary | Up to 30 days |
| aivana_dev_cognito_username | Supports secure authentication and session renewal | Strictly Necessary | Up to 30 days |
| aivana_dev_session_id | Identifies one sign-in, so that a request or a session renewal that started under one sign-in is never applied to another after you sign out or switch accounts. It is a random value and contains no personal data. | Strictly Necessary | Up to 30 days |
| aivana_dev_expires_at | Records authentication-expiration information used to manage session renewal | Strictly Necessary | Up to 30 days |
| aivana_oauth_state | Protects social sign-in flows against cross-site request forgery and related authentication attacks | Strictly Necessary | Approximately 10 minutes |
| aivana_pending_link | Holds, while you finish signing in, a one-time code, and a random value that ties it to this browser, that let us connect the Google, LinkedIn or GitHub sign-in you just tried to the Aivana account that already uses your email. Scripts on the page cannot read it. | Strictly Necessary | Up to 10 minutes, or until it is used or you cancel |
| aivana_pending_link_present | Records only that such a connection is waiting, so the sign-in page knows to finish it. It contains no personal data. | Strictly Necessary | Up to 10 minutes, or until it is used or you cancel |
These cookies are set by Aivana, sent only to Aivana, and not shared with third parties. Authentication methods, security architecture, cookie names, and cookie durations may change over time. A cookie may also expire earlier if you sign out, clear your browser data, delete your account, or if Aivana invalidates the applicable session.
3.2 Local Storage and Session Storage
Aivana AI Studio also uses the following items in your browser’s local storage or session storage. They stay in your browser. A few are also sent to Aivana with requests you make from the browser, for example the visitor identifier and your data-use choice when you use the Playground without signing in.
| Item | Type | Purpose | Category | Typical Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| aivana_theme_preference | Local storage | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme | Functional | Until you clear it |
| aivana_docs_vote:<page> | Local storage | Remembers whether you rated a documentation page as helpful, so the buttons show your choice and a repeated click is not counted twice | Functional | Until you clear it |
| aivana.playground.improve | Local storage | Remembers your Playground data-use choice when you are not signed in | Strictly Necessary | Until you clear it |
| demo_user_id | Local storage | Identifies a visitor who is not signed in, so the Playground demo and its usage limit work | Strictly Necessary | Until you clear it |
| demo_tokens_used_<id> | Local storage | Counts how much of the Playground demo allowance a visitor who is not signed in has used | Strictly Necessary | Until you clear it |
| aivana_last_studio_page | Session storage | Remembers the last AI Studio page you visited, so you return to it after reading the documentation | Functional | Until you close the tab |
Where we introduce additional non-essential cookies, information about those technologies may be presented through our cookie-preference interface or an updated version of this Cookie Policy.
4. Authentication and Third-Party Services
Some features may involve third-party services that use their own cookies or similar technologies.
For example, depending on the feature you use, these services may include providers involved in:
- Authentication or social sign-in.
- Cloud infrastructure.
- Payment processing.
- Fraud prevention.
- Customer support.
- Analytics.
- Marketing.
- Other website functionality.
If you choose to authenticate using a third-party identity provider, such as Google, LinkedIn, GitHub, or another supported provider, that provider may use cookies on its own websites or domains as part of the authentication process.
Similarly, payment providers may use cookies or other technologies to process transactions, prevent fraud, or provide payment functionality.
Third parties acting independently may process information according to their own privacy and cookie policies. When a third party acts as a service provider to Aivana, our use of that provider is also subject to applicable contractual and privacy obligations.
5. Analytics and Marketing Technologies
At any given time, Aivana may not use every category of non-essential technology described in this Cookie Policy.
If we introduce analytics, advertising, conversion-measurement, or similar technologies that require consent or provide an applicable opt-out right, we will implement appropriate controls before using those technologies as required by law.
The specific technologies available in the Services may vary depending on:
- The Aivana Service being used.
- Your geographic location.
- Your account status.
- Your browser.
- Your cookie preferences.
- Features currently enabled by Aivana.
Where available, our cookie-preference interface will provide more current information about non-essential cookies and available choices.
6. Your Cookie Choices
6.1 Cookie Banner and Preference Controls
Where required by applicable law, Aivana will provide a cookie banner or other preference mechanism that allows you to make choices regarding non-essential cookies.
Depending on your location and the technologies in use, you may be able to:
- Accept non-essential cookies.
- Reject non-essential cookies.
- Choose among cookie categories.
- Change previously selected preferences.
Strictly Necessary Cookies generally remain active because they are required to provide or secure the Services.
6.2 Browser Controls
Most browsers allow you to:
- View cookies stored on your device.
- Delete cookies.
- Block cookies.
- Receive notifications before cookies are stored.
- Restrict third-party cookies.
Browser settings vary by provider.
Blocking all cookies may prevent authentication, session management, preferences, payments, or other portions of the Services from working correctly.
6.3 Different Devices and Browsers
Cookie choices are often stored in the browser or device where the choice was made.
If you:
- Use another browser.
- Use another device.
- Clear browser cookies.
- Use private or incognito browsing.
- Reset browser storage.
you may need to make your cookie selections again.
6.4 Global Privacy Control and Similar Signals
Where required by applicable law and technically supported, Aivana will recognize applicable browser-based opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control (GPC), for processing activities to which those signals legally apply.
These signals generally do not disable Strictly Necessary Cookies.
7. Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising
Aivana does not sell Personal Data for money.
Aivana does not use Customer Content submitted through the MMI API for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Certain advertising, analytics, or marketing technologies may qualify as a “sale,” “sharing,” or use for “targeted advertising” under some U.S. state privacy laws even where no money is exchanged.
If Aivana uses technologies that fall within those definitions, we will provide any legally required notices and opt-out mechanisms.
You may also contact privacy@aivana.com regarding applicable privacy rights.
For additional information, see our Privacy Policy at aivana.ai/privacypolicy.
8. Local Storage and Similar Technologies
Some parts of the Services may use browser technologies such as local storage or session storage instead of traditional cookies. The items AI Studio currently uses are listed in Section 3.2.
These technologies may be used to:
- Maintain temporary application state.
- Store user-interface settings.
- Remember preferences.
- Support authentication.
- Prevent duplicate actions.
- Improve performance.
- Support security.
- Maintain temporary feature state.
Where these technologies are used for a purpose that requires consent or an opt-out under applicable law, we treat them consistently with comparable cookies.
9. Data Collected Through Cookies
Depending on the cookie or technology involved, information collected may include:
- Session identifiers and account or authentication identifiers, including the email address associated with your account.
- Security information, such as sign-in state, session expiration, and values that verify a sign-in request.
- For a visitor who is not signed in, a visitor identifier and a count of Playground demo usage.
- Preferences, such as your display theme and your Playground data-use choice.
- The IP address, browser type, and similar information your browser sends with every request to the Services.
If we introduce analytics, performance, or marketing technologies, the information they collect may also include pages viewed, features used, referring URLs, approximate location derived from IP address, interaction timestamps, performance and error information, and marketing or conversion information.
Our collection, use, disclosure, and retention of Personal Data associated with cookies is governed by our Privacy Policy.
10. How Long Cookies Remain on Your Device
Cookie lifetimes vary.
Some cookies last only for a session or a few minutes, while others may remain for days or months.
The actual lifetime of a cookie may depend on:
- Its purpose.
- Authentication settings.
- Security requirements.
- Your browser.
- Your privacy choices.
- Whether you sign out.
- Whether you manually delete cookies.
- Changes to the Services.
Where we publish a specific duration in this Cookie Policy or a cookie-preference interface, that duration represents the intended maximum or typical duration and may be shortened by technical or security events.
11. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in:
- The cookies or technologies we use.
- Our Services.
- Technology.
- Security practices.
- Service providers.
- Legal or regulatory requirements.
- Our privacy practices.
Non-material changes may become effective when posted.
